# trello

> Supported Trello commands for boards, lists, labels, cards and comments.

Read Trello boards, lists, labels, cards and comments, and create, update, move, assign, label and comment on cards. Mirage defines this command tree over the [Trello REST API](https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/trello/rest/); every command prints normalized JSON for `jq`.

## Setup

Create an API key and token using [Trello setup](/home/setup/trello).

```python theme={null}
from mirage import Workspace
from mirage.commands.cli.builtin.trello import TRELLO
from mirage.core.trello.config import TrelloConfig
config = TrelloConfig(api_key="...", api_token="...")
ws = Workspace({})
ws.register_cli("trello", TRELLO, config)
```

No service mount is required. For YAML and multiple accounts, see the
[CLI overview](/python/cli/index#register-a-cli).

## Supported commands

Run `trello <command> --help` for the supported flags and operands.
This list is generated from Mirage's registered command tree.

| Command | Description |
| - | - |
| `trello board list` | List the boards in scope as JSON |
| `trello board show` | Get one board by ID |
| `trello board members` | List a board's members |
| `trello list list` | List a board's lists |
| `trello label list` | List a board's labels |
| `trello card list` | List the cards in a list |
| `trello card show` | Get one card by ID |
| `trello card comments` | List a card's comments |
| `trello card create` | Create a new card |
| `trello card update` | Update an existing card |
| `trello card move` | Move a card to a different list |
| `trello card assign` | Assign a member to a card |
| `trello card label` | Add a label to a card |
| `trello card unlabel` | Remove a label from a card |
| `trello card comment` | Add a comment to a card |
| `trello card comment-update` | Update an existing comment |

## Find work

```bash theme={null}
trello board list
trello board show brd_001
trello board members brd_001
trello list list brd_001
trello label list brd_001
trello card list lst_001
trello card show crd_001
trello card comments crd_001
```

Reads take a board, list or card ID as a positional operand. The
[Trello VFS](/python/vfs/trello) embeds each ID after the last `__` of a
directory or file name.

## Update cards

```bash theme={null}
trello card create --list_id lst_001 --name "Fix login" --desc "Details here"
cat brief.md | trello card create --list_id lst_001 --name "Agent bug"
trello card update --card_id crd_001 --name "Updated title" --due 2026-11-01
trello card update --card_id crd_001 --closed true
trello card move --card_id crd_001 --list_id lst_002
trello card assign --card_id crd_001 --member_id mem_001
trello card label --card_id crd_001 --label_id lbl_001
trello card unlabel --card_id crd_001 --label_id lbl_001
trello card comment --card_id crd_001 --text "Looks good"
trello card comment-update --card_id crd_001 --comment_id cmt_001 --text "Updated text"
```

Writes take every ID as a flag. A description or comment comes from `--desc`
or `--text`, from the file `--desc_file` or `--text_file` names, or from
stdin; `--desc ''` clears a description. `--closed true`, `1` or `yes`
archives a card and any other value restores it. Each write prints the card
or comment it changed.

## Scope, VFS and limits

The CLI uses its own account config and needs no Trello mount.

* `workspace_id` and `board_ids` narrow the CLI as they narrow the mount:
  `trello board list` shows only the boards in scope, and a board, list or
  card ID on a board outside them is refused before any read or write
  (`trello card show: card crd_009 is outside the configured scope`, exit 1).
* `--desc_file` and `--text_file` read a workspace file through the session,
  from any mount the session can read.
* A read-only Trello mount does not make the CLI read-only: the CLI consults
  no mount. Use command policy, such as a profile rule denying
  `trello card create`, to restrict writes.
* API failures exit 1 with Trello's error.

This is Mirage's Apache-2.0 command implementation for the REST API.
No compatibility with a separate Trello CLI is claimed; the API link
documents the service rather than an upstream CLI implementation. See
[compatibility and licenses](/home/setup/clis#compatibility-and-licenses).
